Laraine Elsten Artist

 

I am a self taught artist living in Gresham Oregon who focuses on the beauty around me as inspiration for creativity. It is important for us to fill our homes with things that make us happy, which is why I started creating art and filling my home with colors that I love. Art can have such a tremendous effect on our mental health and emotional well-being, and I love how one piece of art can uplift and inspire.

I began exploring my own creativity after my last child left home. Having no formal art training, I decided one day to purchase a cheap set of acrylic paints and a set of paint brushes as something to do during the long, rainy, winter months. My art journey began with a more free and abstract approach which quickly led way to the more focused approach of the things I love most, landscapes and florals.

 

Having no formal training gave me the unbridled freedom to explore my own creativity without rules or boundaries but I have learned so much from other artist. As there has always been moments of self-doubt, my passion to create overcomes that and helps me feel fulfilled and happy every day. It has a huge honor to be able to create unique pieces of art for people to enjoy in their homes and in their lives every day.
